Welcome to Year 6
We have three classes - Opal, Topaz and Quartz
Our Teachers are Mrs Bennett, Mr Robinson, Mrs Prendiville, Mrs Farrell and Mrs Robinson
Our Learning Support Assistants are Ms Watkins, Mrs Hansra, Mrs Gupta, Mrs Fry and Mrs Conning
Our main aims in Year 6 are:
- For children to be proactive and inquisitive learners
- For children to take on roles of responsibility, act as positive role models and lead by example
- To prepare children for SATs by developing their confidence and self-belief
- To develop greater independence in preparation for a successful transition to Secondary School
The three main topics that the children learn about over the year are Victorians, Lakes and Landscapes and Shakespeare. Within these topics, there are opportunities for research, design, debate and drama.
Every week, the children will receive Maths and English homework that will need to be returned by the following Wednesday. Buzz Time will continue as normal on either Thursday or Friday mornings, so keep practising! We also set a variety of topic projects to complete throughout the year.
PE lessons take place on Wednesday and Friday afternoons, so please make sure that your child has a named PE kit in school on these days. Please ensure that your child has warm clothing to wear for their outdoor session.
If you have any questions throughout the year, then please do not hesitate to ask!
